Card Values and the Third Card Rule
How Card Values Are Counted
In Baccarat, card values are counted from 1 to 9 only — not like Blackjack. Ace = 1, cards 2–9 count at face value, and 10/J/Q/K = 0. If the total goes over 10, only the second digit is used. For example, 7 + 8 = 15 → counts as 5.
Third Card Decision Rules
If the Player's total is 0–5, a third card is drawn; if it is 6 or 7, no more cards are drawn. Whether the Banker draws a third card depends on the Player's third card and follows fixed rules set by the house. Players cannot change these decisions — this is just how Baccarat works.
